Well I took the base station to a local CB radio shop. any comblnptlon, 54- 104-254 1000 Reconditioned and Guaranteed Keeney. they took it apart and said the 120-12 volt power reducer blew and there was nothing they could do about it. The fixed a broken wire in the mic connector and total cost was 8 bucks there. They told me i needed a 12 volt power supply. Well being kinda short on money, I surfed eBay for a little while until I stumbled upon a Pace 5804A 12 volt power supply.
I hooked it up to my multimeter to see if it even worked and it did for about 2 seconds. I took it apart and discovered both glass fuses had blown.
I bought the fuses today and installed them.
13.00 volts with no fluctuation over 5 minutes. I mounted my A99 on the house and found a 10 foot section of RG258 coax in my bedroom of all places. Ive got the antenna grounded but not my base yet. I'm keeping the coax unhooked when I'm not using it. I hooked everything up this afternoon and with out calibrating the CB yet, it picked up.
